DAVID WANTS TO FLY (David Sieveking)
David, a young filmmaker, follows his idol, David Lynch, into the world of Transcendental Meditation (TM). He traces the footsteps of the founder of the movement, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, to whom even the Beatles at one time had made the pilgrimage. The Indian guru developed TM into one of the largest esoteric organisations in the world that, with their study programs, promises world peace and yogic flying.
ERFOLG AM DHAULAGIRI (Norman Dyhrenfurth 1960)
On 13 May 1960, a Friday at 11 o'clock, Albin Schelbert was the first person to set foot on the summit of the 13th eight-thousander, closely followed by his comrades of the 13-man expedition. It was a daredevil undertaking, but it brought the group incredible luck. After seven failed expeditions, they had not only climbed the highest mountain in the world that was still being circumnavigated at the time, but also made adventurous flights with the single-engine Pilatus Porter small aircraft "Yeti" from Switzerland to Nepal. A single mountaineer, the Geneva-based Michel Vaucher, Benjamin of the expedition, was injured, but not during mountaineering or flying, but while being transferred from a truck to an airplane, where his head made all too intimate friends with a tin can flying around.
