Nearly six million people around the world now practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). David, a young filmmaker in search of inspiration, also wants to try meditation. His role model, the legendary director David Lynch, assures him in person that TM is a source of creativity and success.
David decides to take his idol at his word: he undergoes expensive meditation training, obtains his personal mantra and tries yogic flight. The filmmaker makes a pilgrimage on the path of the TM movement. But in doing so, he gets too close to some closely guarded secrets. David Lynch, who has become the emblematic figure of TM, reacts to the film team's research by threatening to sue. David wanted to get to the bottom of it. He travels across the United States to India and dives deeper and deeper into the bizarre world of Maharishi. Instead of the prophesied 'paradise on earth', David encounters the abyss.
