Eva Gruber (40) and her husband Max (45) lead an unagitated married life. Both are firmly established in the St. Gallen cultural scene; he as an artist and unconventional but popular drawing teacher, she as a reflected cultural journalist. Max has just finished a sculpture for an old people's home and the party for it is coming up.
But the artist himself never shows up at the party organised by his wife. Max is arrested by a young, ambitious public prosecutor. The accusation of abuse is in the air. Max's attempts at justification are quickly brushed aside. And the fact that Max often interpreted the curriculum very idiosyncratically in his lessons and did not shy away from explicit art lessons makes his situation even more captious. For Eva, however, the accusations are completely untenable, just as they are for Max. Rather, Eva sees the media and social agitation against her husband as the result of society's increasingly oversensitised, hypocritical approach to the subject of sexuality. So Eva sets out to help her husband and find evidence that there has been a gross miscarriage of justice here, if not an abuse of the law. But suddenly she has to realise that her husband has not always been completely honest with her either.
