Der Film ist eine poetische Entdeckungsreise in die Grenzgebiete der Kommunikation, ein leiser und berührender Film über die Welt der Töne, Klänge und Geräusche. Der blinde Musiker, Therapeut und Klangforscher Wolfgang Fasser hat durch eine Erbkrankheit das Augenlicht verloren und musste früh lernen, was es bedeutet, anders zu sein in dieser «für Sehende eingerichteten Welt». Heute arbeitet Fasser in der Toskana mit Kindern, die aufgrund von Gehirnschädigungen schwer behindert sind. Der Musiktherapeut baut mit Musikinstrumenten, Geräuschen und Tastübungen in geduldiger Kleinarbeit einen Dialog mit den jungen Patienten auf. Nachts ist Fasser oft allein mit Blindenstock und Tonbandgerät unterwegs, um «Klanglandschaften» aufzuzeichnen. «Für mich sind die Tonaufnahmen wie Postkarten», sagt er. Und fügt an: «Ich habe nicht das Gefühl, ich sehe nicht, denn ich höre ja.»

Un voyage poétique à la découverte des confins de la communication, un film touchant qui parle tout en silences du monde des sons, des tonalités et des bruits.

The film is a touching, poetic exploration of the relationship between mind, body and sound, and a cinematic journey to the borders of communication. Wolfgang Fasser is a blind musician and soundscape artist who works with severely disabled children, helping them to find their place in a world not made for them. Most of his young patients have multiple disabilities; some are blind and can't speak, others seem to be completely oblivious to the world around them. Through the use of all kinds of sound, Fasser establishes a dialogue with the children and dramatically improves their abilities of expression and perception. He also often hikes through the woods and valleys of Tuscany, recording soundscapes. For him, these recordings are like post cards, he says, because it's through sounds that he “sees” and remembers the places he visits.
